Morning Absorbs Sound
by jael bietsch

Morning absorbs sound
in hushed fog.
  Passers-by go
  back and forth
  muted in step
but mostly don't go at all.
Wet-winged birds
wearing grey canvas cloaks
over deep-hooded eyes.
And the sun doesn't rise or fall at all.
